“from anywhere” (poem)

put aside your grief,
put aside your fear,
come and bask in our strange
abundance.

these months have shown
you what we
all need; this isn’t it.

staying away
to keep close
should have been
the easiest thing
in the world.

close your doors
close your eyes—
the lessons from today appear
before you.
these hallways, it turns out,
are even more important
than words or ideas or mentors.
we made them and we’re afraid
to go on without them.
